Our generation grew up with a new level of technology and we look at our personal lives and careers in a totally different light than our parents. Some have said we're only seeking instant gratification and aren't willing to settle in for the long haul to grow within a company. I'm not saying we wouldn't love for an awesome run with a series of promotions and even increasing benefits, but, it seems as if we are no longer defining our success by our ability to climb the company ladder. And, who says we're even going to want to work in the same industry 20 years from now?

There are a lot of assholes in the entertainment industry. Being a PA in the business intimidates even the strongest soul, and part of that intimidation will come from the assholes. You will find yourself confronted with an asshole from time to time; when that happens make sure you're prepared. Below you will learn how to properly identify the assholes, greet your asshole, wreak the benefits of the asshole, and above all else make friends with the asshole.

If you are in entertainment, you will occasionally be tasked with home deliveries of scripts and cuts to various people including actors, directors, writers, producers, and network executives. For the most part it's as simple as handing it off or leaving the package on the doorstep. There are, however, some general guidelines which will make handling slight bumps more easy.

Note: These tips apply to almost any kind of home delivery where you don't personally know the recipient and screw-ups could mess with your professional career.

Nothing defines Hollywood more than the parties. Whether its a wrap party an invite up in the hills or a holiday party, you better be ready to put your best foot forward. And if you're there with an invite or as a plus one, there are a few things that will make your experience much the pleasanter.

Networking. Unless you're one of those people who loves making friends with complete strangers, this word can make a person more nervous than a job interview. As the cliché goes, this town is about who you know more than what you know. Networking is a crucial part of getting your career off the ground, so it's important to become good (or at least decent) at it. I've only been to a handful of events, so I'm still learning the "how to" ropes myself. I can offer insight into some of the things I witnessed that didn't seem quite right during my schmoozefest experiences. Here's my list of things you might not want to do. Like death and taxes, unemployment is part of life. When you are young and struggling, losing your job can feel like the end of the world. But unemployment isn't the end of your career. In fact, it could be the beginning of it. Here's the thing: unemployment is an opportunity.

Just because you're jumping on a plane out of Los Angeles doesn't mean it's time to stop meeting people. Fact of the matter is, it's never time to stop networking. LAX (or any other airport) can be a great place to make connections and meet new people in your industry. Now I'm not saying you should be running around interrupting and forcing your way onto anyone and everyone, or that you should spend money on a ticket so you can get past security, but you never know who you are going to be sitting next to at the terminal or, better yet, on the plane.
