moghul_courtWe're excited to have 2 tickets to tonight's performance of Moghul Court- one of the very last events of the World Festival of Sacred Music. Generously donated by Stettin Law, this riveting piece takes us back in India’s history to an era of artistic and cultural renaissance – a time when music, dance, theater and poetry flourished in the lavish courts of the Muslim nawabs and Hindu maharajas. This Indo-Islamic syncretic culture was at its heights with the arts leading the way for a rich and enduring exchange between Hindu and Islamic traditions.

free_online_tunesI grew up in the age of Napster and Kazaa as well as DC++ and MyTunes in college dorms. If somebody wanted to listen to a song they could pretty easily grab it and build out their music library instantly. The size of people's collection not only became a contest, but a source of gigabyte based pride. Nowadays the trend of illegal file-sharing is pretty dead. Sure you can still hop onto BitTorrent and grab some music, but with the advent of solid streaming services who really wants to fill up their hard drives with an overwhelming amount of songs you'll never have the time to listen to? There are a number of free services out there to help you get your music fill.

alt_4thHappy 4th of July LA! We’re assuming most of you are set on bbq-ing, and watching fireworks today, but we’ve got a feeling that for some that doesn’t sound exciting. Different strokes for different folks and all that jazz. The beauty of a big city like LA is that there are lots of alternative 4th of July options. Whatever your preference, there are myriad ways to enjoy a beautiful summer day.

cinco-de-mayoCinco de Mayo is not only this week, it's a date that will live in infamy since back in 1862! Why? Cuz that's the day the Mexican army were totally (and very unexpectedly) victorious over the French forces via la Batalla de Puebla (aka the Battle of Puebla). Also, it's a day Mexico doesn't as much care about. But here in the Southland (and various other party cities in the US) we celebrate with abandon! But it's not all drunken party times, though those do exist, don't get us wrong. We've put together this list of free fun times just for you!

littlebunnySo our title is a little corny, but it's a big week for Spring holidays. So far we've celebrated Passover and now…get ready for it…Earth Day and Easter are coming up! Yes, we may be holiday junkies, but oh well. We're too busy checking out the fun events around town to worry about it.
