football-field-serving-trayThere is usually a mix in every Super Bowl crowd: the ones there for the games, the ones there for the commercials, and the ones in it for the snacks. We don't judge your motivation for hanging out with friends during Super Bowl XLVI (that's 46 for you who never learned Roman numerals or are too lazy to add letters, natch). Whether you're hosting or in charge of bringing a tasty treat, read on for some suggestions for Super Bowl snacks.

pumpkinWith the approach of Halloween it's fun to stroll around looking at the front lawn cemeteries and spooky(ish) cobwebbed shrubs. If your house is the last one on the block to deck the front stoop with holiday garb, grab some friends and throw a pumpkin carving party. Decorating pumpkins can be inexpensive and enjoyable holiday entertaining, so we're fans. Here are some general guidelines and suggested variations.

WaffleIt’s true, somehow we missed National Waffle Week. This would be really sad except that we’re okay with celebrating holidays on the wrong day (because it’s often cheaper). It’s still September so it’s even kind of on time to have a waffle brunch or breakfast-for-dinner feast. Invite your friends and get down to business.

stove_topThe Loop may be off-air, but it left us with an important message: "you can't get mad at someone while you're eating fondue." While we won't put this to the test, we will whip up some delicious fondue. Cheese or chocolate, it's your call. Both rock. You may think that you don't have the requisite cookery, but we'll show you how to make do.

sangriaWho says you can't serve your friends watered down, cheap wine still be classy? Certainly not anyone we know! They're all too busy sipping on some sangria. That's right. This tasty wine-based concoction is just meant for cheapo, alcohol-lovin bums like you. So this Memorial Day when someone asks you to bring a beverage to the BBQ, whip up some sangria and prepare for the compliments.

Matzah_ballsSince we shared a Passover Primer last year, you probably know by now that the splitting of the Red Sea has is more than a ride through Universal's backlot. While you can rent The Ten Commandments for the Hollywood version, most people probably relate to the story through their tummies. We're talking Passover food: matzah, charoset (add some phlegm to the beginning of the word to fit in), and…more matzah. Matzah is also known as "poor man's bread," making it right up our alley. And from matzah to matzah balls is a pretty swift jump.
