We love summer activities: pool, beach, just laying like a sea lion in the sun. Such fun will, however, quickly dry out your hair. Chlorine may be protecting your body from nasty bacteria but it is wreaking havoc on your locks. While it would be nice to head to the salon for a deep condition and head massage, it’s just not in the budget. Lucky for us, regular salad ingredients like oil, vinegar, and avocado do great things for hair repair. So invite a friend over (so you still get that head rub) and raid your pantry for budget hair treatments.
Since way back in the day, cultures have been coming up with ways to find meaning in the Vernal Equinox (the day when the night is as long as the day--but more on this later--usually March 20, which is also the official First Day of Spring). Not satisfied with just heralding in spring, urban legends have become prevalent. We wanted to know if there was any validity to some of these myths so we did an old fashioned Google search to save you the trouble. Read on to find out if raw eggs really do balance and brooms can stand on end during the spring equinox.
Since we're a little old to beat out the kids at the Easter egg hunt without looking like terrible human beings, and since we're way too lazy to decorate our own, we came up with a solution. Let's break those suckers. And make an Easter Egg Frittata. All the spirit and way easier than the alternative. Let's hear it for eating cheaply and thematically.
There's beauty in being eco-friendly and economical at the same time. And we're not just saying that because of Earth Day. Take a good look at your cleaning products and prepare to say goodbye to expensive specialty cleaners. It's time to repurpose some basic kitchen goods into super cleaners.
The amount of fun you have on New Year's Eve does not directly correlate to the awesomeness of your upcoming year. So, now that we've gotten that pressure out of the way, let's talk about where to go to celebrate on the cheap, and where to cure your hangover. This year has gotten more expensive; we're not sure why but there you have it. Choose your celebration carefully (see below for suggestions), designate a driver, and have a great New Year's Eve out and about.
During the holiday season, you may find yourself welcomed into someone else's family. If you're going to spend the holidays with a family that's not your own, there can be some pressure associated with choosing thoughtful and affordable gifts. Never fear, RFB is here! Okay, that was super cheesy. Sorry. But we have put some thought into this so read on for ideas for little somethings for families.
Homeless, Jobless, and Poor pretty much describes about every recent graduate that makes the big haul out to L.A. to start living the Beautiful Life. But just like the CW show tanked, moving out to LA can be equally as terrible (well, maybe not that bad). So let me dispense a little hard-won advice equally useful for a transplant or a native in transition.
