Talk to a Stranger

talk_to_a_strangerSometimes you just get bored. When picking lint out of your belly button loses its appeal, consider talking to a stranger. We're not talking about anything too crazy. But mixing up your social circle, if only for a few minutes, can be a good way to blow the dust off the old brainbox. Exercise caution (because that's just smart), but check out the possibilities of talking to someone new.

Online: If you are stuck at home or at a job that doesn't require too much attention, the computer is your friend. Sure you already know about the potential of the internet, but have you ever tried crazy sites like ChatRoulette? You may accidentally see a stranger engaged in some weird activity, but you may just talk to someone cool. Ben Folds thought it was pretty entertaining:

Other options for a similar activity include Omegle, Talk to a Stranger, and Me Chat You. Who knows what you'll end up talking about!

Face to face: This sort of contact can be a little bit more intimidating, but try it out. You may have to try a couple of people to find someone interested in a chat with a stranger, but don't give up. Notice your technique. Your goal isn't picking up a hottie, so don't come off like a creepy sleezeball. Approach someone you wouldn't normally think to chat with. The lady at your neighborhood coffee shop, the guy walking his dog, etc. Advice: don't try and stop someone in a hurry or who is obviously trying to be alone. These folks will not appreciate the opportunity. But if you find yourself sitting on a bench waiting for the bus, compliment the person next to you or comment on the weather. See what happens.

Want to hear some cool war stories? Visit your local VA center or American Legion post and be regaled with fascinating stories from way back when. Also, make a veteran's day.

And, oh yeah, try not to get agro like these guys:

One last thing: Don't take candy from 'em!
