LA County Fair: Friday Random Specials

Summer came and went, or so it seems. Help extend it one more month by heading out to the The LA County Fair starting Labor Day weekend in September and continuing over the next four weeks. The Midway is full of rides, concerts, competitions, carneys, and hot dogs galore! Who can say no to cotton candy and ferris wheels?

Fairs can get expensive, but some people are even hungrier than you. And we're not talking about for deep fried twinkies. We mean really and truly hungry. That's why if you bring five cans of food to the Fair any Friday from opening all the way until 6 PM you get a FREE ticket in and some lucky recipient by way of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank gets to eat. It's kind of a big deal. Be a good bum. Help others. Well done.

Should you decide not to be philanthropic (though we highly suggest otherwise), here's some other cool deals available:

• The most "expensive" of all deals belongs to Ralphs, but it's still pretty cheap! Head to any participating Ralphs grocery store between now and October 3rd to pre-purchase your discounted admission tickets to the Fair. Adults are only $10 and kids 6-12 are even cheaper at $6! Woo hoo! Sure beats buying the same ticket at a higher price at the fairgrounds. And guess what? You can use these passes each and every day of the fair. No restrictions!

• Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa wants you to check out the Fair too! They’ll even make it worth your while. Download their coupon and it's $5 after 5 PM Wednesdays through Fridays. Coupon must be printed prior to arrival and surrendered at time of ticket purchase to receive discount. It's cool, cuz normally they want you to part with your money, here they're trying to save you some. Go them. Note: discount only applies after 5pm, natch.

• College Days! Specific college campuses will be featured certain (read: random) days of the Fair run with students, faculty and staff receiving a coupon good for one free admission on their respective college day. Alumni have no fear, you can get in for half price on those days, too. Coupons/vouchers + officials IDs are required for the free admission discount. Just the coupon is required for alumni discounts. Community Days! - $5 before 5 PM for residents on their respective community days. There's a ton of them (residents and communities, to be fair) so we're only listing Friday ones here, but you can see the rest here. Don't forget to bring your coupon/voucher and check out the special parades and other fun stuff going on that day just for you!

• Read to Ride! Kids from kindergarten to 6th grade can read two books and write a 25-word minimum book report for each book. The kindergartners through second graders can draw pictures with a caption for each book they read. Participants will receive three carnival ride vouchers for every two books they read, maximum of nine vouchers per child. Bring entry forms to the America's Kids information booth in Building 10 during the Fair and get free ride vouchers. Presented by Ray Cammack Shows.
