World City: Khac Chi Ensemble & Korean Classical Music and Dance Company

World City is a day of FREE programming for families showcasing cultures from around the world through dance, music, song, and storytelling, all at the W.M. Keck Children's Amphitheatre at the world-famous Walt Disney Concert Hall! And they'll even do it twice in one day, at 11am and at 12:30pm. Start lining up early (say 9:30 AM) for tickets to the highly sought-after and free family programing available in beautiful downtown LA. Really, how often can you get in to an anything at the Walt Disney Concert Hall for free?

This week, ring in the Lunar New Year with cultural celebrations from Eastern Asia! Khac Chi Ensemble performs the music of the mountain people of Vietnam featuring rare instruments such as the dan t'rung - a suspended bamboo xylophone - and the dan bau - a one-stringed zither. The energetic rhythms and fascinating timbres offer intriguing glimpses into Vietnam's rich musical traditions. Plus, the Korean Classical Music and Dance Company performs both folk and court styles. Using a 12-tone scale instead of the Western diatonic scale, the company performs authentic music and exquisite dance that originated with the ancient culture's royal dynasties.

Tickets are FREE and are distributed on Grand Avenue at 2nd Street. Distribution for tickets begins at 10:00am for the 11:00am performance and 11:00am for the 12:30pm performance. NOTE: The W.M. Keck Children's Amphitheatre is an intimate outdoor performance space. Sunscreen and appropriate seasonal attire are strongly encouraged. In the event of rain, event will be moved to a nearby indoor location.
